First Time Install

People often ask us how hard it is to install a roll cage kit if they have never done it before. My typical response is that if you have the time to fit and notch the cage yourself and then have an experienced welder do the final welding it really isn't too difficult.  The biggest issue is to make sure that you have an experienced welder do the final welding of the cage for you.

One of my customers in the NE who had never installed a roll cage kit before but wanted to try it and gave me the following comments once he was done with his installation.  I must say that the installation really came out nicely.  He took him time and made sure things were fit properly and it really shows.  I don't always see experienced shops do this nice a job.

We are located in Portland Oregon and I didn't want anyone speculating that we helped in any way so when Mike offered his comments from clear across the country I thought it was appropriate to share those comments for those that are thinking about doing it themselves.  I am not going to post his information on this page, but if anyone wants to contact him directly please e-mail me and I will get you in touch with him.

"Sean, having absolutely no experience in building and installing my own roll cage, after my discussion with you  on the phone, I decided to give it a try.  I want to thank you for the time you spent with me on the phone.  It instilled the confidence in me to give it a shot. My main concerns were to build a cage that was safe, that fit me, and gave me ease of entrance and exit.  Looking back on the process, I am amazed at how comprehensive the instructions are, how easy they were to follow, and ability in your kit to “tweak” the cage to make it fit me perfectly.  Not being the best welder in the world, I did 100% of the fit and tacked the cage in place all myself, and then had a friend do all the finish welding.  I looked  at a lot of cages, and talked to a lot of custom cage builders before deciding to use a MiataCage, and I am thrilled I did. It certainly helped that you, the designer, was available for a question or 2 during the process.  No matter what else I do to this car, nothing will compare to the comfort and satisfaction of building my own cage. It was not hard, I just took my time. Check out the pictures! "
