NC Lexan Windshield Installation Kit
Tired on replacing glass windshields? MiataCage has developed a polycarbonate windshield mounting system for the NC Miata 2006-2015 that works with the Mazda Motorsports Polycarbonate windshield.
Utilizing dzus buttons to secure the windshield in place makes it very easy to install and remove when needed. I didn’t realize how often I would take out the windshield until It was actually possible for me to do it. I often remove the windshield for the following reasons.
- Clanging the windshield
- Cleaning the inside of the car
- Working on/under the dash
- Applying graphics to the windshield
For those concerned about the dzus buttons ability to hold the windshield in place in a crash, unfortunately I can tell you that we have crash tested one of these in a roll over at Road Atlanta in turn 5. Not only did the windshield stay in place it had very little damage at all and could have made the rest of the weekend if we would have chosen to try to get the car back on track.
The design of the frame is pretty cool. It utilizes (2) dowel pins that index the bottom of the windshield and center the windshield in the car vertically and horizontally. There are corresponding holes in the polycarbonate windshield that match up to the frame, so by utilizing the dowels (which are removable) for alignment it makes it super easy and fast to install the windshield.
