Fire Proof Door Pulls for your 1990-2000 Miata.
We have designed an adjustable fire proof door pull for your SpecMiata. These door pulls install from the door release mechanism at the back of the door and go up to the front of the door so that they span the entire length of the door.
The purpose of this is so that the driver can simply swipe for door pull instead of tying to locate a specific door handle in the car. When trying to get out in a hurry when the car is upside down or on fire or in an emergency we have found that panic can set in and then the driver can’t quickly locate the release mechanism to open the door and potentially puts them at risk especially in the event of fire in the cockpit. By running the door pull from the front to the back, the driver simply has to swipe at it with either hand and they will quickly locate it and open the door.
These Kevlar pulls are lightweight, adjustable and visibly easy to locate. They are 1” wide with a bright Red cover sewn to the outside of the Kevlar. They will not burn and look much nicer than cable or wire inside the car. They are adjustable and will work with any cage and any type of door bars.
If you have on 01+ car the release mechanism is completely different and will not work without replacing the mechanisms with 99/00 ones. Most people just replace the 01+ mechanisms with the 99/00, as they bolt right into place and allow for the lighter horizontal release mechanism. You can add a set of 99/00 mechanisms from the drop down list below.
Some History......
We have an extrication exercises car that is on a rotisserie and is powered by an electric motor. This car allows us to put drivers in the car and simulate roll overs as well as other emergency situations. We use it to develop products that will help the drivers as much as possible in an impact as well as then extricate themselves as quickly as possible. Through the use of this car we found that most drivers could not extricate themselves from the car in less time than their race suits fire protection would keep them safe. From there we decided we need to improve on some things and the door pulls was one of the biggest things that slowed the driver down and put them in danger.
