These mounts were designed to work in conjunction with the mount that comes with most of the aftermarket convex mirrors. The mount that comes with most aftermarket mirrors attaches to the roll cage and places the mirror much closer to the driver than where the original Mazda stock mirror was placed. The stock Mazda mirror that came on the car was much closer to the glass than where most of these aftermarket mirrors end up when you attach them to the roll cage which significantly reduces your field of vision.
These mounts bolt in between the aftermarket mount and the mirror extending the mirror farther away from the driver and closer to the glass closer to the original stock Mazda mirror location which will increase your field of vision and allow you to take full advantage of the convex mirror.
These mounts were designed to be as lightweight as possible yet still providing enough rigidity to be able to mount the mirror in a secure non vibrating fashion.
